Personal message from our ED Bhairavi Desai, on the tragic loss of our brother Hector Figueroa, President of SEIU Local 32BJ
I'm writing today with the devastating news that our brother Hector Figueroa, President of SEIU Local 32BJ, died last night. This is a huge loss for our union and for the world. I've never met a more kind, gentle, brave, or righteous union leader.
He was our biggest and best ally in the labor movement. He stood with us during our darkest hours and cheered on our victories with so much joy and genuine love. He helped make many of those victories even possible. He loved drivers. He loved TWA. He believed in our movement and was more dedicated to building it than any other labor leader in this country.
This is a devastating loss for us. Today and everyday we will remember Hector in our prayers. Let us as a movement always honor this kind, generous, selfless warrior for the working class. God speed, Hector.
We loved you so much and are forever in debt to your love and solidarity.
Our hearts go out to his wife, his two children, and all of our brothers and sisters at SEIU Local 32BJ.
