Protect Our Full-Time Jobs!

Call For Driver Unity

In NYC, Uber drivers are earning less than minimum wage and working on three Apps to earn a full-time living.  Individual medallion owner-drivers are facing bankruptcy.  Greencab drivers (majority permit holders) are seeing the market disappear in less than 3 years after it was first created through law and years of driver struggle.  In a race to the bottom, no driver wins.

Uber believes taxi driving should be part-time, secondary income for people who already have another job and a private car.  Their goal is to be the one company monopoly of taxis and FHVs and in a few years, bring in driverless cars.  They are testing them in Austin, Texas.  Uber CEO said, that this way, Uber’s one cost – splitting the fares with the drivers – would be gone and they could make more profit.  Today, they make ads attacking taxi drivers.  Tomorrow, they will turn against all drivers.  Stand Up, Drivers!  Protect Ourselves!

City Council Transportation Committee Hearing

  • New York City Hall New York, NY

Support City Council Proposal to Require Environmental Impact Study on FHV Vehicles & Stop TLC from Issuing New Vehicle Permits During the Study Period

City Council Public Hearing
Tuesday, June 30th
10:00am at City Hall

Subway:  R to City Hall or 4/5/6 to Brooklyn Bridge

The City Council is proposing a law to require an Environmental Impact Study of the growth in FHV vehicles by the TLC, Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Department of Environmental Protection.  The agencies must evaluate the impact on traffic, air quality, noise and public health, and must conclude no later than August 31, 2016 (but can be finished earlier.)  During the months of the Study, the TLC will be allowed to issue only a limited number of NEW FHV vehicle licenses, depending on the number of affiliated vehicles a FHV base already has:  500+ vehicle bases can add 1%; 20-499 vehicle bases can add 5%, 19 or fewer vehicle bases can add 15%.  The TLC will still process vehicle renewals and continue to issue new FHV Driver Licenses.

Uber is lobbying hard to defeat the proposed bills.

There’s a bill in Albany to let Uber & other Apps dispatch to private drivers with personal cars in New York State.  Their business model is to flood the streets with cars & cut fares and raise them at their own will, killing professional jobs:  51% of Uber drivers are part-time & they set up recruitment for 10,000 NEW drivers in NYC to add to their 14,000 affiliated drivers.  There are 75 different Apps competing in NYC.  NO DRIVERS will be able to earn a full-time living.  RISE UP!   DOWNLOAD FLYER
